Itinerary
Day 1. Sunday, February 16, 2025
HAVANA
Welcome to Cuba! Your adventure begins as you are met at the airport by our local taxi driver and transferred to your accommodation in the city center. Once you check-in and settle in, take your time to meet other members of the group and/or enjoy the surroundings.
06:00PM. The Orientation meeting will be at 6PM in one of the hotel’s meeting halls or the cafeteria section. Your tour guide will review the updated itinerary and inform you of any possible last minute changes that may have occurred.
08:00PM. Be ready to enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at a private Cuban paladar while enjoying the most amazing spectacle from members of the well-known Buena Vista Social Club. Take into account that a paladar is a small, family-run restaurant. This means you are contributing to the economic well-being of some Cuban families.
11:45PM. Bus transfer back to your accommodation will be available. In case you want to continue enjoying your time, please, bear in mind you’ll have to take a taxi on your own for the way back.

Day 2. Monday, February 17, 2025
HAVANA
09:30AM. This morning, after a delicious breakfast, put on your walking shoes and your coolest clothes, and get ready to discover the history behind the magnificent buildings of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982.
10:30AM. During your walking tour, stop at the Casa de Africa, a museum that was founded as part of a larger program dedicated to divulging the realities of slavery in Cuba and its influence on society. It showcases a collection of art and various cultural artifacts from all over Africa. Today, this is a defining hub for studies and community projects related to the African diaspora and the history of the African influence in Cuba and in the Americas.
12:30PM. Time flies and it’s lunch time!!! Enjoy local food and live music at a private paladar in the area. One national drink is included. We recommend a refreshing Mojito or Daiquiri.
02:30PM. After lunch, take your time to visit the Almacenes de San Jose, the biggest flea market of Havana where you can buy souvenirs for your loved-ones.
03:30PM. If you bought hats, caps and/or sunglasses take the opportunity to show them off, as you will take a little sunbath during a panoramic tour of modern Havana in Old American convertible cars. During this tour, a stop at the Revolution Square and the Bosque de La Habana are included.
05:30PM. Time to go back to accommodation and get ready for dinner.
08:00PM. Be ready for a delightful dinner in Old Havana. After dinner, take your time to walk around and visit El Floridita, the cradle of the Cuban Daiquiri.
11:45PM. Your driver will be ready to take you back to your accommodation. In case you want to continue enjoying your time, please, bear in mind you’ll have to take a taxi on your own for the way back.

Day 3. Tuesday, February 18, 2025
HAVANA
10:30AM. After breakfast, bus pickup to visit the Centro Martin Luther King. Meeting and exchange with members of the Red Barrial Afrodescendiente Community Project, a group of Black women across Cuba that came together to form the Red Barrial Afrodescendiente (“Afrodescendant Neighborhood Network”, or RBA). The goal of this newly formed network was to form generative discussion opportunities surrounding race, racism, gender, sexuality, and discrimination in Cuba.
12:30PM. It’s been a long morning! Delight your palate with a tasty lunch at a private paladar.
03:00PM. After lunch, visit the Headquarters of the dance company Habana Compás Dance. Enjoy a wonderful presentation where the essence of Spanish dances merge with Afro-Cuban rhythms and contemporary dance through new aesthetic codes, in which the dancers not only dance, but also work the percussion with any element around them: drumsticks, castanets, heels, flip-flops, claves, chequerés and percussive chairs.
04:30PM. Go back to accommodation and enjoy your time at leisure.
07:30PM. Enjoy a delicious dinner at a private paladar. Visit and enjoy the famous show at Tropicana Cabaret
11:45PM. Your driver will be ready at the entrance of the hotel to take you back to your accommodation. In case you want to continue enjoying your time, please, bear in mind you’ll have to take a taxi on your own for the way back.

Day 4. Wednesday, February 19, 2025
HAVANA
10:00AM. After breakfast meeting with members of the Yoruba Association of Cuba to learn about how this religion has been developed in Cuba. Walk around the area of the Capitolio de La Habana, the Central Park and the Revolution Museum.
12:30PM. Lunch time at a private paladar.
02:30PM. Then, continue to the Callejon de Hamel, a two-block alley that offers an unparalleled glimpse into Afro-Cuban culture, with lively colorful murals and sculptures made from bathtubs, hand pumps, and pinwheels. This Afro-Cuban style is a mix of surrealism, cubism, and abstract art.
04:30PM. Go back to accommodation and enjoy your time at leisure.
08:00PM. Delight your palate with a wonderful dinner. Enjoy your night at leisure.

Day 5. Thursday, February 20, 2025
HAVANA
10:00AM. After breakfast, lecture on Slavery in Cuba, racism and social equality with a renowned anthropologist.
12:30PM. Lunch time at a private paladar.
02:30PM. Cinema Debate: “NOW”; documentary by Santiago Alvarez on Racism in the USA, 1st Prize Palma D’Oro, Leipzig Festival 1965. The documentary owes its title to the fact that its images of Racism and Discrimination last the six (6) minutes of the song NOW, performed by the African-American Jazz singer, Lena Horne.
04:30PM. Go back to accommodation and enjoy your time at leisure.
08:00PM. Delight your palate with a wonderful dinner. Enjoy your night at leisure.

Day 6. Friday, February 21, 2025
HAVANA
10:30AM. Meeting and exchange with the members of a Cuban Folkloric Group that has become themselves into a symbol of Cuban identity and culture, serving as guardians of popular and traditional Cuban expressions rooted in African heritage. DESCENDECIA RUMBERA
12:30PM. Delight your palate with a delicious lunch.
02:30PM. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure.
05:30PM. Time to go back to accommodation, get a shower and get ready to enjoy your last dinner in Havana. We suggest you to dress in white and/or red since these colors represent energy, power, passion and optimism.
08:00PM. During this farewell dinner at FANGIO Habana, undoubtedly one of the best places in Cuba to listen to the best exponents of Cuban jazz music, it will be really appreciated if your could give us your feedback on the tour. Don’t feel sad. This is not a GOODBYE, CUBA!, but a HASTA PRONTO!
11:45PM. Your driver will be ready to take you back to your accommodation. In case you want to continue enjoying your time, please, bear in mind you’ll have to take a taxi on your own for the way back.

DEPARTURE
This morning you can pack your suitcase and all those souvenirs you have already bought. The driver will pick you up 3 hours before your scheduled departure flight time to take you to the airport. Remember to have your passport, airline ticket and all your belongings by hand.

Please note that SST will book your flight ticket and travel insurance directly through the airline depending on their availability for the scheduled date. Most of these airline tickets are NON- REFUNDABLE. If you cancel your trip, the amount paid for the airline ticket and the travel insurance will not be refunded.
SST assists its clients in the choice and purchase of the travel insurance plans, limiting itself only to the assistance during the purchase and not to the implementation of said plans. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, you should contact your insurance company directly.
To acquire your Travel Visa you can purchase it directly at the airport during your check-in process. In case you want it to be included in your package, please contact our team. An extra fee per visa will be added and you will receive your visa at the address you request. We only ship within the United States. Note it will arrive blank for you to fill out with your passport information. This travel visa is valid for 30 days. Make sure you do not misplace it while in Cuba since you cannot leave the country without it, and please, do not detach the two separate sides. Customs in Cuba is responsible for this.

If you are flying to Cuba via the US or you are a US citizen, then you will need a “pink” Visa. For those who travel from the rest of the world to Cuba, they will need a “green” one. You can get your visa online or purchase it at the airport during check-in for your flight. If you are a US passport holder residing in the United States you can also purchase it from us. We ship only within the US. Note it will arrive blank for you to fill out with your passport information. This tourist card is valid for 90 days. Please, take into account that your flight ticket will be booked directly through the airline depending on their availability for the scheduled date. Most of these airline tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. If you are visiting the island and staying on your own, you will probably find that most of the private casas in Cuba do not have wi-fi service available, so guests usually go to the nearest hotels, buy an internet card and access the service in the hotel lobby.
