From November 27th to December 1st, 2024, Guantanamo province will host the3, 594.0k 8th Edition of Chocolate con Café Festival, an event created thanks to the idea and the effort of popular singer and songwriter Waldo Mendoza. Chocolate con café Festival is named after the province’s economy most important products. This festival promotes the territory’s most autochthonous traditions through artistic presentations of all art manifestations and concerts of outstanding musical groups from Cuba and the eastern region.

To guarantee the departure of this group tour, a minimum of 4 people is required.

Itinerary

Clients arriving and departing from Cuba through Havana airport must arrive one day before the start of the program and an overnight stay in the capital of Cuba is included. The departure flight must be booked for 2 days after the end of the program.

Upon arrival at Havana International Airport, you will be met by your cab driver and transferred to your accommodation in the city center. Depending on your arrival time, you will enjoy a tour of the city and later have a delicious Cuban dinner at one of the most famous paladares in the area.

The next day, after a nice breakfast, you will start your transfer to Guantanamo (estimated transfer time: 13 hours each way). On the way, stop at Ciego de Avila Province for lunch.

Clients arriving and departing from Cuba through Santiago de Cuba airport can arrive the same day the program starts and leave the day after the program ends. Upon arrival at Santiago de Cuba International Airport, you will be met by your cab driver. Transfer from Santiago de Cuba to Guantanamo and vice versa is included, unless you choose EVENT ROGRAM only(estimated transfer time: 2 hours each way).

Day 1. Thursday, November 27th, 2024

GUANTANAMO

After checking in, take some time to freshen up and get to know other members of the group.
Enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at a Cuban private paladar and get ready to move your hips to the beat of good music during the Concerts scheduled for the Festival.

Day 2. Friday, November 28th, 2024

GUANTANAMO

After a delicious breakfast, visit the Stone Zoo, created by the famous sculptor Ángel Íñigo Blanco and declared National Cultural Heritage. With more than 400 stone pieces, this exotic place portrays the life of animals through stone modeling, from the elephant to sculptural sets such as lions attacking a buffalo, among other pieces. During the tour you can find various sculptures of animals that are exhibited in areas decorated to recreate their natural habitats according to their origin, as well as enjoy the beautiful endemic vegetation that accompanies this extraordinary exhibition.

After lunch at a local private paladar, visit the Popular Art Expo Fair at the Boulevard de Guantánamo. Take your time to buy souvenirs for your loved ones. Return to the hotel in the afternoon, and get ready to continue enjoying good music after dinner, during the Concerts scheduled for the Festival.

Day 3. Saturday, November 29th, 2024

GUANTANAMO

After breakfast, put on your walking shoes and cooler clothes since you’ll visit Baracoa, the oldest colonial city in Cuba, with a rich heritage dating back to the landing of Christopher Columbus in 1492. This city exhibits the only surviving Sacred Cross of Parra, of the 29 planted by the admiral in America. It has charming streets, colonial fortresses and museums. This is a town where history, nature and culture combine in a captivating way.

Following lunch, take a nap on the way back to Guantanamo. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure and continue enjoying the Concerts scheduled for the Festival.

Day 4. Sunday, November 30th, 2024

GUANTANAMO

After breakfast, visit to the School of Music ¨Antonia Luisa Cabal¨. Exchange with teachers and students and learn about the Teaching-learning process of this discipline in Cuba.

Following lunch, visit the headquarters of the Tumba Francesa (French Drum), an Afro-Cuban genre of dance, song, and drumming that has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It was brought to Cuba by Haitian slaves who were resettled in the island’s eastern regions following the unrest in Haiti during the 1790s. It embodies one of the oldest and most tangible links to the Afro-Haitian heritage of Cuba’s
Oriente province.

This afternoon, enjoy the fascinating opportunity of meeting and sharing experiences with Waldo Mendoza, a Cuban singer and songwriter better known as the “Voice of the Romantic Song in Cuba”, and who is at the same time the President and Creator of the Festival “Chocolate con Café”.

During your farewell dinner, share your favorite experiences and continue enjoying the Concerts scheduled for the Festival.

Day 5. Monday, December 1st, 2024

Clients departing from Cuba through Santiago de Cuba airport, your taxi driver will pick you up 5 hours before your departure flight time. Please, take into account you must be at the airport 3 hours before your departure time. (estimated transfer time from Guantanamo to Santiago de Cuba Airport: 2 hours)

Clients departing from Cuba through Havana airport, you’ll be picked up for your transfer to Havana early in the morning. (estimated transfer time from Guantanamo to Havana province: 13 hours) On the way to Havana, stop at Camaguey Province for lunch. Once in Havana, after checking in, enjoy your evening at leisure. The next day, after a nice breakfast, you’ll be picked up 3 hours before your departure flight time to go to the airport.

In case there is any activity of the program that for reasons beyond our control is not available on the scheduled date, our company will offer a second alternative to replace it.

  • Clients choosing EVENT PROGRAM only do not have transfers to/from Guantanamo

As specified above, Flight tickets and Travel Insurance are not included, but SST team may assist you with the booking process if needed. Take into account that an extra fee of $50.00 USD will be charged for operating expenses.

Cuba requires all visitors to have travel insurance at the time of entry to the island to cover their entire stay. Please note that SST will book your flight ticket and travel insurance directly through the airline depending on their availability for the scheduled date. Most of these airline tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. If you cancel your trip, the amount paid for the airline ticket and the travel insurance will not be refunded.

SST assists its clients in the choice and purchase of the travel insurance plans, limiting itself only to the assistance during the purchase and not to the implementation of said plans. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, you should contact your insurance company directly.

To acquire your Travel Visa you can purchase it directly at the airport during your check-in process. In case you want it to be included in your package, please contact our team. An extra fee of $125.00 USD per visa will be added and you will receive your visa at the address you request. We only ship within the United States. Note it will arrive blank for you to fill out with your passport information. This tourist card is valid for 30 days. Make sure you do not misplace it while in Cuba since you cannot leave the country without it, and please, do not detach the two separate sides. Customs in Cuba is responsible for this.

READY TO VISIT CUBA?

Essential travel documents you must bring with you in order to travel stress-free and get the most from your visit.

A valid passport is required for the entirety of your trip. Make sure it has six months validity at the time of entry.

Cuba requires that all arriving travelers, except Cuban born travelers, have a Tourist Card or Visa to enter the country. If you are flying to Cuba via the US or you are a US citizen, then you will need a “pink” Visa. For those who travel from the rest of the world to Cuba, they will need a “green” one. You can get your visa online or purchase it at the airport during check-in for your flight. If you are a US passport holder residing in the United States you can also purchase it from us. We ship only within the US. Note it will arrive blank for you to fill out with your passport information. This tourist card is valid for 90 days. Make sure you do not misplace it while in Cuba since you cannot leave the country without it, and please, do not detach the two separate sides. Customs in Cuba is responsible for this.

Most of the U.S. airlines that fly directly to Cuba give you the option of purchasing it at the moment of booking your flight ticket. SST assists its clients in the choice and purchase of the travel insurance plans if needed, limiting itself only to the assistance during the purchase and not to the implementation of said plans. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, you should contact your insurance company directly.

Make sure to buy a roundtrip ticket or have onward travel from Cuba if you are buying one-way. US airlines flying to Cuba: American Airlines (AA), Southwest (WN) and Delta (DL). SST assists its clients with the airline ticket booking process if required. Please, take into account that your flight ticket will be booked directly through the airline depending on their availability for the scheduled date. Most of these airline tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. If you cancel your trip, the amount paid for the airline ticket and the travel insurance will not be refunded.

This is an Advance Traveler Information form. As it is mandatory for each traveler to fill out the form, it is available in several languages and must be filled out 48 to 72 hours prior to arrival. If you are visiting the island and staying on your own, you will probably find that most of the private casas in Cuba do not have wi-fi service available, so guests usually go to the nearest hotels, buy an internet card and access the service in the hotel lobby.
